E-Learning Design: First Class

Posted in E-Learning Design by Jess on the February 29, 2008

So, I was right in guessing that I needed this blog for E-Learning Design, it was almost the first thing my lecturer said :)

I think that this subject is going to be very interesting and exciting, for one reason in particular - as a class, we’re performing a real life project! So, we have to research and provide recommendations for e-learning for a real company. By the end of the semester, we will have presented to the company what technologies are available for them to use, and then we will also present our own reccomendations as to how they design their e-learning.

In addition, some of us may also have the opportunity to work with the company next semester to help implement the e-learning design that they choose as work experience (a component of the Professional Practice subjects I am doing this year).

I am really excited to have this opportunity. To be able to do something in a classroom which is completely real - with real impct and real consequences - is an experience that not many people have.

I can’t help but think that my uni is getting something out of this as well, though. Considering that they are probably getting paid to perform a consultancy role, and I’m paying for the subject, they’re getting two sources of income from the one subject ^_^

Testing Capabilities

One of my subjects this year, Professional Practice, requires me to complete a portfolio of work so that I can apply for RPL for a Cert. IV in Training and Assessment at the completion of my BA in Organisational Learning.

So, now I’m trying to see if I can compile my portfolio online, on my blog somehow, to minimise the hassle that would ensue from organising and submitting a hard copy portfolio.

I’m Back at Uni

Yes, it’s a new year, and I’m posting again. I’ve decided that because this is my last year of uni, that I want to see how much and how far I can go with it. So, as well as posting for my current e-learning subject, E-Learning Design (which I know I will be asked to use this for ^_^), I also want to post any reflections I have on other subjects, to keep my brain stimulated and thinking.
